Lines around the eye area are one of the first few giveaway signs of ageing, and that fact alone should give you even more reason to take extra care of your precious peepers. Whether it’s SKII or any other brand, it should be an essential part of your everyday skin care regime. It’s very sad, but i do already have some fine lines around the eye area, and i was very eager to find something that would help deal with it. I know that there’s no miracle cream that would completely eradicate those damn wrinkles, but i suppose anything was worth a shot ;P

During one of those 20% off sales at Metro, i decided to give the SKII LXP Ultimate Perfecting Eye Cream a go. It came highly recommended by the SA, and when you’re in a shopping mood, you tend to believe everything they tell you despite the hefty price tag. Was this purchase a big mistake? Texture: Satiny soft and easily absorbed by the delicate skin around the eyes.

How to use: Take a pea-sized amount using the spatula. Dot cream around eye area and spread evenly with your ring finger. Gently massage in a circular motion to enhance absorption. Apply every morning and night before a moisturizer, such as SK-II’s Ultimate Perfecting Cream.

My Thoughts:

Well, there’s nothing in particular i would mention about the packaging. It comes in a regular twist cap jar, the bronze exterior is beautiful though. In terms of texture, it is rather rich which i believe is typical of most anti-aging products. It’s rich, but not heavy if you know what i mean. It takes a bit of work to really absorb well into the eye area. So you definitely need to gently work it in around the area in a circular motion.

I’m almost done with this 15g jar which retails for S$254 at SKII counters island wide. There’s no doubt this will burn a hole in your pocket, but i’m pleased to share that the lines around my eye area are no longer as pronounced. It has indeed ‘softened’ the lines underneath my eyes, and it provides a good amount of hydration. However, it hasn’t done very much to reduce the darkness/discoloration underneath my eyes I’m afraid. As always, the results will vary from person to person. Do i regret this purchase? NO, i’m actually really happy that it’s helped to soften the lines in my eye area.

Other than showering your eye area with TLC, a lot of it also has to do with your genes i hear. After a recent visit to a skin doctor, i was told that the dark circles underneath my eyes had nothing to with insufficient rest as i do not generally have a habit of keeping late nights. You can imagine my horror when he said it’s more genetic than anything and creams don’t really do much for me in that area. It’s also due to the fact that the under eye area is slightly sunken which casts a shadow there giving the appearance of dark circles. That can be rectified with some fillers/botox, but i’m too chicken to try that as i have a fear of needles. ;P

I won’t try and justify that this is why this eye cream hasn’t helped to reduce the darkness underneath my eyes, but i do believe that it is partly the reason why. Just sharing my experience and understanding so you can use my review to help you decide if this is worth a go or not.

Would i re-purchase this? I don’t see why not, except for the price tag. But just remember that quality products don’t come cheap! Have a great weekend everyone! Hope this was useful for you 🙂
