Bioderma sunscreen Review Reddit
I walked past the Bioderma counter in London Drugs this morning and saw the testers out for display. Show Photoderm COVER Touch SPF 50+ (https://www.bioderma.ca/en/all-products/photoderm/cover-touch-mineral-spf50-claire) Photoderm NUDE Touch SPF 50+ V (https://www.bioderma.ca/en/all-products/photoderm/nude-touch-mineral-spf50-tres-claire)
I didn't get the COVER Touch because of the full coverage. I doubt I can apply 1/8 tsp without looking like a clown. It comes in 2 colors, both of which are too dark for light-skinned people IMHO. I got the NUDE Touch in Light because it looked the best on my hands and jaws under store lights but when I got home and tried it on my face and looked at it under bright sunlight, I think it's still a bit too dark for my skin tone (I think I'm a medium, whatever that means). Is it too dark? No. I'd say the color is about the same as Australian Gold tinted sunscreen in Fair-Light (or the lightest shade). But the Australian Gold is more orangey, and this Bioderma one is more yellowy. But on my face the difference is not that perceptible. The Australian Gold appears dewy but dries down to a matte finish and does achieve pore-blurring effects to a certain extent. The Bioderma one has a matte finish too... but not as matte as Australian Gold's. Maybe it's 'bare skin effect', it doesn't look as thick as the Australian Gold on my face. But it could be that I applied lesser (because it's so runny!). Very minor differences - may matter to some folks, but on my face, not much difference. Do I like it? Yes! I'm just another consumer. It has more ZnO and TiO2 than Australian Gold and has the UVA circle. It is anti-shine and supposed to be water resistant for up to 80 minutes. But it is much more expensive than Australian Gold, and I'm not sure if I can apply a full 1/4 tsp and not look like a freak. But for everyday use and when I do not want to look super matte, I think this is great for me. It also doesn't feel as drying on the skin as compared to the Australian Gold but I've only had this on for several hours. (Too excited! Had to post a review hah) I think light-skinned folks can try NUDE Touch in Very Light. But if you are as pale as ... whipped butter, stay away. I think I might go back and get the Very Light and mix it for use. Update: I wore this (1/8 tsp only because the shade is too orange for me) for several hours outdoors (very warm today, full sun, almost no clouds). I have slightly oily skin (i.e., I almost never have to blot unless I'm out in full sun for several hours). It lasted well, but my nose and forehead started to get shiny after 4 hours or so. The oil-controlling property is not as good as Australian Gold's IMHO. Upon application, it also dries down a tad slower than Australian Gold's. It's harder to apply as well because of its runny texture. But overall, I still like it! After /u/kindofstephen posted his very helpful list of sunscreens by country and their PPDs, I just couldn't pass up a PPD of 42. Verbiage My main skin-care concern is now fading PIH from old breakouts. They are dark and stubborn, and I am plying them with lots of actives (BHA, AHA, Vit C-E-Ferulic, retinaldehyde, niacinamide + NAG). Because of this, I decided to go big or go home with regards to sunscreen. I apply 2 pumps to my face, waiting a few minutes in between if possible. I also use 1 pump for my upper chest and 1 for my neck. This soaks in much faster than EltaMD UV Physical, but not as fast as Biore UV Perfect Face Milk 50+ PA++++. There is a slight white cast that fades, though I am quite pale (NC15) so it is not noticeable anyway. The silicones make it feel a bit slick on application though I think this decreases also after a few minutes. My combo skin does end up looking a bit too shiny, so I use powder to cut the shine (either directly over the sunscreen, or over foundation if I'm using it). Those with oily skin will probably need decent soaking-in time plus a dusting of powder. I used this while camping for the past week. On a couple of occasions I applied makeup and was faced with the reapplication problem. I'm happy to report that I was able to reapply the Bioderma OVER my powder dusting by using 1 pump at a time and gently patting (not rubbing) over my face. I then reapplied my powder and was good to go. This did feel a bit heavy by the end of the day but OCM took care of that. Comparisons I also use the following sunscreens:
Hope this helps a bit in the ongoing quest for HG sunscreen. (Edit: argh, formatting!) Is bioderma sunscreen good Reddit? The only chemical sunscreen I have found that's never caused me any issues was Bioderma Photoderm Max Spray SPF 50 (large bottle for the body) which I used for just under a year. I found it very shiny and greasy, but I was willing to put it with it because it didn't cause any irritation.
