I did a lot of trail & error with this and for it to work perfectly on your android head unit...you need to reset your head unit to factory and then install their autokit apk. Also don't run any android home launcher like carwebguru or car launcher pro app because it will interfere with this device. So if you run only your factory android head unit and this device, it'll run smoothly, no issues.

Another tip: I see some complain about the device screen resolution being pixelated..you need to adjusted the screen resolution in your android head unit setting.

Overall if you follow the steps above, this device works without any issues.

It’s nice if you want to add apple CarPlay to an aftermarket android unit, and it’s good but you can tell it’s not like it would be from the factory. I use mine every day. Nuce just not the real thing

The product is great, downloading the apk wasn't difficult to google search on the tablet running android. It might start a bit glitchy at first and probably a few times after but you'll learn how to avoid it. Such being using the carplay and figuring how to get the radio to play while using car play. As well as learning that you can't have the phone connected to Bluetooth and wired connected as it'll make the music start/stop abruptly. Hope this helps and i was also concerned and not sure if it would work, but it's operating smoothly.

Update: If the seller see's this please advise, however, on certain days the product will not be picked up by the head unit. It will just say "Please connect product" despite the product being connected and my phone as well. I try to unplug and reconnect, but no success. Then when I start up my car for the next ride it'll pick up the product no issues. Anything I can do to mediate this issue?

It installed quickly, it’s just a usb dongle. The software is where I had issues. Downloading and installing Autokit.apk was simple and connecting my phone works, however it causes issue with my FM radio. The background app seems to relaunch approximately every 20 seconds causing the sound on the tuner to stop.
I was able to fix it in the factory settings panel, by having the sounds overlap. The only problem with this is I have to close the radio if I want to listen to music through CarPlay. For me this isn’t a big deal, but it’s annoying. Your mileage may vary, depending on how your head unit handles sound switching

I think that all the bad reviews for this dongle are from people that did not read the description of what this thing needs to work properly. This will work if you have an aftermarket head unit running Android. I personally have a EONON head unit running some ancient version of Android. This WILL NOT work on your stock head unit that came with your car, you must have a head unit running Android.

The Install was easy and as follows, this will depend on whether or not you have a front USB port on your head unit. I didn't, so I pulled out the head unit, plugged the dongle into the back usb port, and ran a USB C wire through my dash and out through where the hand brake is. The next step involves downloading a semi-suspicious APK from "http://121.40.123.198:8080/AutoKit/AutoKit.apk". I was able to do this by parking near my house, connecting to my WiFi and typing that address in. It will install the AutoKit app. At this point, you'll plug in your phone and the application will automatically load into Android Auto. Like others have mentioned, you may need to look in developer options and enable usb debugging if it doesn't work.

I also have an iPhone for my work phone, so I tested out CarPlay as well. Worked flawlessly after accepting the prompt on the phone.

Overall everything has worked out fine with this adapter. It has brought new life into my old slow Android head unit. Again the most important thing is reading the directions, and verifying your head unit is compatible.

I wish this worked wirelessly with android but unfortunately it does not. It's a little buggy abs sometimes it doesn't want to load but unplugging it takes care of the issue

Head unit - EONON GA9465B running android 10
Phone - Xiaomi Mi Note 10
Car - 2006 BMW E90 325xi, with aftermarket head unit of course

I was able to connect to wifi and install the app through the head unit browser, so I didn't have to bother with putting the apk on a flash drive and installing it that way. The app always stays on, so when you connect your phone, it auto launches Android auto, so once you get it set up it's perfect from then on out.

I will say, getting it to work was finicky at first. At first, it only recognized the adapter but not my phone. I gave up, and read online that some phones need USB debugging to be turned on. After finding the option and plugging it back in to the dongle, sure enough, if started working. Effectively, I really only needed it for Google maps, as Bluetooth Spotify worked perfectly without it.

I think the best part about the app is that it is able to auto launch when it detects your phone. If I had to open up an app and do some kind of button pressing every time to launch Android auto, it wouldn't be worth the price, and I might as well have just stuck to screen sharing with the default app on my head unit.
