I’m feeling lazy, I know, what’s new right? As you know, I suck at applying make-up and have little to no knowledge about the ins-and-outs of looking fabulous. However, that doesn’t mean I’m butt ugly lols. Anyhow, I am paying more attention to skin care products because I’m turning 30 soon *cries*. If there is anything I buy a lot of, it’s lip balm! So let’s look at my first review of a lip balm =)

Mentholatum Lip Ice Lip Balm (Lemon) Retails for: ~$9 CAD I bought it for: $3-4 CAD (when I was in Hong Kong) Details: SPF 15, Cooling, Relief for dry chapped lips

Opinion: I really do not excel at writing sophisticated reviews for skin care products. I either like the damn product or I don’t, lols. To begin, this thing is very moisturizing. They weren’t joking when the description noted that it was for treating dry chapped lips. After applying the lip balm, I felt like I applied coconut oil because it was so smooth. Unfortunately it felt a bit oily for my lips but I can see why some people would like it, especially in the winter. I do think the smell is great, it’s not too overwhelming and you would know it’s lemon. For $3-4, I would say give it a try. Unfortunately I’m not a big fan of super moisturizing lip balms so it’s a pass for me. Oh right, was there a cooling effect at the end? Not really, and if there was, it was quite subtle.

Next time I’ll take the lid off and show you the inside. Better yet, I’ll even take a snapshot of my lips with the lip balm on (or maybe I’ll apply it on my boyfriend lol).

I’m an avid SPF user - I apply it daily, usually multiple times a day. I wear UPF (sun protective) clothing like driving gloves and sleeves, and put on a hat before watering the garden or going for a walk. If you are interested in a list of sunscreen favorites, arranged by filter and skin types, look here (must be a member of my private Facebook group to view). But one area has been lacking when it comes to sun protection - lips!

A few years ago I noticed a couple of freckle-looking spots on my upper lip and had a major freakout. Sun damage and skin cancer are absolutely possible on the mouth, and treatment / surgeries can be tricky and emotionally difficult. Protecting the lips is very important. So I set off on a quest to find lip SPF that I could comfortably use in my daily life.

Lipice water lip spf 20 review

I had a few drugstore flops that caked on the lips, smelled and tasted like cheap sunscreen, and gave me a white cast that would make Olaf from Frozen jealous. But I think I finally found some awesome Japanese options!

I got Rohto Mentholatum Water Lip Balm and Color Balm. They feel and apply basically the same, the only differences are in scent / color.

Is SPF 20 good for lips?

Similar to advice given for the rest of your skin, you should use an SPF of 30 or higher for your lips in order to get adequate protection from the sun. You should apply lip SPF at least every two hours when outdoors. Also make sure to reapply after eating, or if you have a habit of licking or biting at your lips.

Is lipice lip balm good?

This also left my lips feeling moisturised and makes a great base for lipstick. As well as natural Cocoa & Shea Butter and Jojoba, this also contains Almond Oil. A great everyday lip balm for when you want natural-looking lips with a hint of colour.

Does lipice make lips pink?

Overall ExperienceIt changes color from clear to natural-looking pink that is pigmented enough but not too bright. It gives a my-lips-but-better effect, while leaving my lips soft and hydrated.

What SPF level is best for lips?

No SPF can block 100 percent of rays. For a SPF lip balm, Deignan recommends looking for a formula with SPF 30 or above. Broad-spectrum protection: Look for a balm with broad-spectrum protection. This means the sunscreen will protect against both UVA and UVB rays, says DeRosa.
