2-in-1 laptop vs iPad

Hi, I have an iPad PRO 12.9". With the large screen, loud sound and good battery life, it is great for surfing the web or watching videos. However, some of you may disagree, I found it not useful as a productivity device. When the iPad OS Beta came out, I was very excited about it and even bought a Logitech keyboard. Then, the excitement worn out and I found that in practice, it is not as good as a 2 in 1 laptop such as the Yoga C930. For example, iPad Pro can only have two windows side by side while in 2 in 1 machine, we can have overlayed windows. We can also develop software and run Windows programs. Moreover, there are still some compatibility issues between iOS browser and some sites such as Blackboard. After using Yoga C930 last year, I feel that I wasted money to buy an iPad PRO. Certainly it cannot be used to replace a computer for my work.

It all depends on what you want to use it for IMO. If productivity is just Word documents, emails, spreadsheets, etc. than the iPad Pro may be good enough. Anything more intensive and you're better off with something more PC-lite. I use my iPad Pro mostly for media consumption and for some light email and spreadsheet work when traveling. For me, it does that job just fine. But if I needed something that could handle more for work (like traditional Windows programs, USB storage, etc.) I would opt for a Surface device.

I would never attempt to replace a work computer with a tablet, regardless if it is called "Pro" or not. But it also depends on the work. If all you ever do is word processing, spreadsheets, email, browse the web (fyi....iPad can use other browsers than Safari), and similar basic simple tasks then it could work ok, I guess. But it is still extremely limited as you've pointed out.

For these reasons, I don't buy the "Pro" models of iPad. At the same time, I don't use my Lenovo Yoga 2-in-1 as a tablet. It is a great laptop, but a horrid tablet and my 6th gen iPad is just superior. It isn't even close, frankly.
