How many endings does 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors have?

Hello, fellow 999 fans! :)

As the topic title suggests, rank the endings starting from your most personal favorite to least personal favorite. Please try and rank all six endings. You can also give your reasoning for each rank or just simply post a list.

Here's mine:

1 - True
2 - Safe
3 - Axe
4 - Sub
5 - Coffin
6 - Knife

True/Safe endings are really close, so they both deserve the top two spots. They both left such an emotional impact! Crazy Clover with her axe is my favorite bad ending. That sadistic grin of hers pretty much nails the hammer on the head. No pun intended. Sub ending has its moments with Junpei/June and learning the backstory of Seven/Lotus was cool. I guess Coffin was a decent cliffhanger especially if it was one of your earlier endings before witnessing safe, and knife ending happens abruptly without leaving much so it takes the bottom spot.

Safe is at the top. Junpei usin' the hell out of his thinker, Snake being a terrifying badass, and I personally feel it ends with one of my favorite kinds of moment in a story: the "all hope seems lost, but it's not over yet" moment.

True is second because while lots of cool stuff happens, Junpei never gets a proper chance to show off how intelligent he is. All of the really incredible stuff is the result of supernatural forces at play. It's still pretty close, though. Honestly, I feel it's hard to rank true and safe separately because they're both so vital.

Next would honestly probably be sub, since it involves going through a door with Seven and Lotus, and I really enjoy the interactions between those two.

Then axe, mostly since it gives Clover the spotlight for awhile.

Finally, knife, mostly because it doesn't really feel like it does anything compared to the other ones.

Not counting coffin, partly because I never got it (was already fully spoiled on the game before I ever owned it) and partly because, personally, I don't consider it an ending of its own.

*bump*

Also, if the Coffin ending does not apply to you, then feel free to just rank the other five endings.

Coffin End was nice, and it was cool to get the Safe End right after that... At that point I suspected the killer was Ace because of Snake's death the [9] bracelet being up for grabs, and I guessed about Snake's arm because of Clover's reaction. And it was pretty obvious Snake was going to be in the coffin. It was a nice moment, I liked progressing with Clover and making some guesses to be confirmed in the Safe End. Of course, then I had to play it again later. And it kind of sucked to get those endings early in my playthrough.
Also, it didn't really end in the same way the other endings did, because it was just a "to be continued" ending.
I definitely thought the Axe Ending added a lot to Clover's character, (as did the Coffin End, but obviously in a different way) and it was creepy. Maybe not as mysterious, but it was fun.
The one thing that I disliked about the True End was that they redid all the backstory of the Safe End. They really could have just said "I was a detective working on a disappearance case" and skipped to Seven in the air duct. Did they have to go through every detail about where it was and how he barely fit AGAIN? Skip to the part we haven't heard! Seven's memories are fuzzy, after all, so you can't blame him if he forgets part of that story. Sure, it's not the full story, but it's enough. Air ducts are all over the place, there was a noise so Seven followed it. If they want to know everything, they could have played/can go back and play Sub.
I guess I'll say True>Safe>Sub>Coffin>Axe>Knife. Coffin is really hard to judge, though. It worked well as foreshadowing, for me, but I think it might have worked pretty well if I'd gotten the other endings first. Instead of foreshadowing, just knowledge that we have and Junpei doesn't. (That's a literary device I can't remember the name of)

Yeah the Knife one is the worst.

It was my first ending and I got really upset.

My build: RTX 3080, i5-10600k, 32gb 3000mhz
Depressed? Just be happy lol.

Hey, at least you had the other endings to look forward to!
I mean, I personally wanted all the endings, and wanted them to get more exciting as I went along. But then I'm a "save the best for last" kind of guy.

But then, I'd want Sub to be the first or second ending so the True End's repetition of Seven's story is less annoying. Because more time has passed.

Sub, Knife, Axe, Safe, True would be a good order. Maybe I'd even have remembered Lotus's bracelet being missing in the Sub End when I saw it again in Knife.

Besides just being kind of boring, the annoying thing about the Knife End is that Akanarrator keeps yelling "Who would have needed the 8 bracelet?!" Even if you didn't guess that Ace was using the 9 bracelet before, a) you might guess it from the way it sounds as if it's a single person who needs the bracelet and b) you do already know that the person(s) who killed Snake had a total of 1 on their bracelet, so it's obvious why they needed the [8] bracelet.

@ZeroEscape3

I have to agree on the fact that the Coffin ending is a tough one to critique, simply on the fact that it can be missable and not required, since after all, it is basically a truncated version of True ending, but Coffin was actually the first (blind) ending I got, which was why I thought the cliffhanger left me in somewhat of a suspense because I really wanted to know what was going on after that!

The funny thing was that on my second playthrough I got Safe (still without using guides), so I could have easily beaten the game then, if I had repeated the same action as the first for my third run through. Though, curiosity got the best of me as I had to see the other endings before I witnessed the True ending, and wow, was it worth the wait! :)

This.
I believe the order I got it was something like Coffin, Safe, Sub, Knife, Axe, True. Maybe Sub before Safe.
It is a little annoying to go back for another playthrough when you already know the killer, though.

Mine was definitely similar to how you got your order of endings, but I honestly cannot recall the order of the bad endings done. x) Mine went something like Coffin, Safe, x, x, x, True, where 'x' denotes the three bad endings. I ended up using a guide to get the other two bad endings, once I got my first bad ending which I believe may have been Axe... but I am not 100% positive. x)

1 - True
2 - Safe
3 - Coffin
4 - Sub
5 - Axe
6 - Knife
