Asias next top model cycle 4 episode 8

Asia's Next Top Model, Cycle 4 is the fourth season of Asia's Next Top Model. Cycle 4 began airing on March 9, 2016, and finished airing on June 1, 2016. This season featured 14 models from across 10 countries in Asia, including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam. This season was the first one to feature contestants from Mongolia and Myanmar.

This cycle also was the first cycle to feature Cindy Bishop as the host, as well as Yu Tsai being the creative director. Competitor Quynh Thi Mai Ngo previously competed on Vietnam's Next Top Model, Cycle 4 where she placed 18th-15th.

Asia's Next Top Model, Cycle 4 is the fourth installment of a reality television show in which a number of women compete for the title of Asia's Next Top Model along with the chance to begin their career in the modeling industry. The show features aspiring models from the entire Far East region and South Asia continent. On December 3, 2015 Georgina Wilson announced via her official Instagram account that she would not return as the host of the show. Alex Perry and Joey Mead-King both also confirmed that they would not be returning for the fourth cycle. The judges were replaced by Thai fashion model and beauty queen Cindy Bishop as the host and head judge, Indonesian model Kelly Tandiono as the model mentor, along with America's Next Top Model's Yu Tsai joining the show as the creative consultant.

The cycle featured 14 contestants, three from Philippines, two from Indonesia and Thailand, and one each from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Singapore, South Korea and Vietnam. South Korea marked its return after last cycle's absency, while Mongolia and Myanmar made their first ever appearance. China, India, Japan, Nepal and Taiwan were unrepresented.

The winner of the competition was 20-year-old Tawan Kedkong, who represented Thailand. Among the prizes were a Subaru XV, a position as the face of TRESemmé, a cover and fashion spread in Harper's Bazaar Singapore and a modeling contract with Storm Model Management in London. Kedkong is the second winner of the show from Thailand, the first being Jessica Amornkuldilok, who won cycle 1. Thailand is the only country to have won the title twice since the series began in 2012.

Asias next top model cycle 4 episode 8

Watch with me at 9 p.m. Philippine time on Star World as I recap the episode live as it airs. 🙂

Last time on Asia’s Next Top Model, Patricia had the most beautiful Closeup Diamond Attraction smile having won the challenge, high photo shoot scores, a date with Tom Rodriguez, and a faux-proposal from Mike Lewis. Not to mention, diamond earrings! Very lucky! Unfortunately, another girl has been eliminated, and it is May, the first ever representative from Myanmar. Only 6 girls remain… who will become Asia’s. Next. Top. Model.

🎶 I’ll give it all I’ve got, ’cause I’m gonna be on top 🎶

Asias next top model cycle 4 episode 8

“Finally, Indonesia!” Patricia is super happy that she represented her country well. May left a note for her roommate Tuti. “From now on, no more tears, only smiles and positivity.” That’s the spirit, Tuti! Julian needs to conquer her Yu Tsai-phobia. Angie is feeling the pressure of the competition being one of the remaining girls in the Top 6. Snazzy editing! Plus she fears that her eye infection will keep her from being on top.

Cindy Mail! It’s a video message from Cindy! 3 P’s: personality, professionalism, and presentation. The go-sees will be in pairs, in competition to book the most jobs. The pairs are: Angie and Julian, Tuti and Patricia, and Sang In and Tawan.

Challenge: Go-sees

Asias next top model cycle 4 episode 8

The girls have to go on go-sees for three designers: Pevita Pearce, Chelsea Scott-Blakhall for Dzojchen and Zenchi. Tuti and Patricia first go to Indonesian designer Pevita Pearce. For Pevita Pearce, the best girl will have a chance at joining in a Maybelline campaign. Angie and Julian first go to Chelsea who’s looking for an effortless, chic look. Oh, Yu Tsai is at Zenchi. Runway is apparently Sang In’s weakness. Tawan seems to have done a good runway walk. “I don’t think I got booked, but I think the client likes me.” – Patricia. Hahahaha.

The girls finish their three go-sees and suddenly they’re back at the model house. As soon as they arrive home, something scares them. What could it be? Yawn. Julian is getting a lot of screentime this episode. Another bottom two appearance? Elimination? Find out after the break.

Oh, it’s just Yu Tsai. So much for Julian’s Yu Tsai-phobia. Hahaha. He’s here to deliver the designers’ critiques and the challenge scores. Angie booked all three go-sees and she’ll be in the Maybelline Make It Happen campaign. She gets the highest challenge score of 8.3. Sang In booked zero jobs! WHAT! She has the lowest score of 7. The challenge scores are close so the shoot is super important.

Cindy Mail! Lights, camera, action. It’s time to move into the fast lane.

Tawan is excited to do acting to show the judges that she is not shy.

Music Video Shoot

Asias next top model cycle 4 episode 8

The girls meet Daniel Boey with the director for the Subaru music video Kevin Ou. They will shoot the music video at Suite 26. Tawan feels pressure to do well as she has been previously chosen as the brand ambassador. The girls are only given 3 takes for each scene. Talk about budget cuts!

Asias next top model cycle 4 episode 8

Angie decided to remove her glasses for the shoot. And she’s having a hard time nailing her mark. Tuti needed to be mindful of the lighting. The director told Julian that she could do better. She’s trying to show “fierce” but she seems to not be nailing it. She wants to do well for the Philippines. Foreshadowing? Daniel Boey tells Patricia to be mindful of her mouth movements as it looks awkward. Patricia dances the nerves away. Sang In isn’t moving too much, which is ironic because “confidence in motion” is Subaru’s tagline. And then, OF COURSE GLENN TAN COMES IN FOR HER SHOOT. SERIOUSLY?!

Asias next top model cycle 4 episode 8

Glenn makes it to Sang In’s and Tawan’s shoots. Obviously for dramatic purposes and to make the girls become even more nervous. For their final shot, the Top 6 girls are all together, walking towards the Subaru XV. Product placement complete! That’s a wrap!

Deliberation

The judging panel this week is Cindy Bishop, Daniel Boey, Yu Tsai and Glenn Tan. The judges and the girls watch the music video premiere.

Asias next top model cycle 4 episode 8

So the music video is in black, white, and red. WTF they included footage of Patricia’s goofy dancing! And a lot of repeated shots. That’s what you get when you only have 3 takes to work with.

Daniel and Glenn liked Tawan’s scene. Yu Tsai not so much. He thinks it was a little too pageant-y. Glenn wants to see more confidence from Julian, but surprisingly Yu Tsai loved her clip. Julian is super happy to get his approval! “That performance is what I’ve been waiting the entire season from you.” – Yu Tsai on Angie’s clip. Raves from all judges. Patricia didn’t think that the dancing looked good, but Glenn liked it. What?! Tuti missed the lighting mark so she had a hard time standing out from the scene.

Call Out Order

“This was an incredibly tough decision to make.” – Cindy

Asias next top model cycle 4 episode 8

  1. Patricia
  2. Angie
  3. Tawan
  4. Julian

Bottom Two: Tuti and Sang In

Sang In overthinks and feels too cold. Tuti found herself in the bottom for a technical mistake: she needs to find her light always. Sang In gets a total score of 30 while Tuti gets 29. Tuti gets emotional but Cindy tells her that she is not eliminated. WHAT?

Eliminated: None!

It’s a non-elimination! Tuti is given another chance.

Patricia is called back up on stage. And Cindy asks for her photo back. And then Glenn delivers the news… Patricia is the 2nd Subaru brand ambassador. Oh ok so it wasn’t bad news. Y U SO MEAN CINDY? I’m kidding. It’s the producers’ fault for wanting even mooooore drama. I hate you sometimes. LOL.

UPDATE: Here’s a link to the music video. (It’s not official so it might be taken down soon.) The song is called “Limitless” by Adventure Club featuring Delaney Jane. (Download it on iTunes.)
