for a while now i have been unable to play this game- i get the same error message box that pops up saying "Failed to initialise NVIDIA PhysX. Please install the latest NVIDIA physX system software.

ive tried verifying the integrity of the game cache, deleting and redownloading, and uninstalling the nvidia drivers with driversweeper and then reinstalling drivers-- it has never gotten the message to stop.

it doesnt matter if i have PhysX set to Off or not, it still wont play.

using Win7x64, 2 GTX285s in SLI and latest drivers 258.96, although it hasnt worked for a while with any of the previous drivers. i dont know what changed, i hadnt played it in a long time, my friend wanted to see it, and the error message came up (this was a couple months ago now) and ive never been able to get it to work.

try updating physx drivers? The newest nvidia drivers has 0223 or something like that.

tried that too, downloading the latest physx software from MS, it doesnt change anything

i have like 5 or so different spyware/malware/etc programs on my computer, i think something is interfering with PhysX installing or running correctly...

sorry for triple post, ugh.. +++

i tried downloading and installing that anyway, for the hell of it. it started uninstalling the older physx then a box came up saying i needed an Nvidia PhysX software disc (the same kind of box that pops up, prompting for a Windows disc if you try adding/removing windows components)

that hadnt even happened before, when i had tried running just the physx installer by itself in the past.

Do you have the PhysX option turned on in the Nvidia control panel?

Also, set you power management mode to "prefer maximum performance" if that option is in the control panel.

both have always been set.

whats annoying me is that i know something is wrong with PhysX, as when i run GPU-Z it says CUDA, SLI, and DirectCompute 4.0 are all available (and box checked) but PhysX box is unchecked.

Is it just Batman doing this? Do you have any other games that make use of PhysX and get the crash error?

Do you have the update patch for game, too? it's possible some files might have been corrupted and you might need to reinstall the patch to fix it.

So when I run the game, I get this error message popup - "Failed to initialise NVIDIA PhysX. Please install the latest NVIDIA PhysX system software"

Anyone else have this issue? I've had my gaming rig for 3 years and have installed multiple games and have never had this issue before.

I have a GTX 680. I'm not super knowledgeable about this stuff, so how would I go about doing this? And would installing the latest software potentially effect other games that already worked with previous software?

UPDATE: I've since updated the drivers. I just downloaded GeForce Experience and I selected to install the physx system software. Once it installed, Arkham Asylum was able to run.
