How to make Spotify playlist private on desktop

Spotify allows users to create playlists of their favourite songs, which can then also be shared with others. If you want others to find your Spotify playlist in the in-app search or via your profile and be able to follow that playlist, youll need to make the playlist public.

Here is a step-by-step guide to help you make your Spotify playlist public on its app for Android, iOS and PC, followed by a guide to help you make your Spotify playlist private (or secret).

Making Spotify playlist public on mobile app

Open the Spotify app on Android or iOS and follow the steps below to make your playlist public.

• Tap on Your Library tab from the options at the bottom of the app screen.
• Either press and hold the playlist you want to make public, or tap on the playlist to open it and then tap on the triple-dot (overflow) menu icon at the top-right.
• Scroll down in the list of options and then tap on Make Public.

Your playlist will now be public and will appear in searches as well as be displayed on your Spotify profile page (as shown in the screenshot above).

Making Spotify playlist private (secret) on app

If youve made a playlist public by mistake and want to revert it to private (or secret), open the Spotify app on Android or iOS and follow the steps given below.

• Tap on Your Library tab from the options at the bottom of the app screen.
• Either press and hold the playlist you want to make public, or tap on the playlist to open it and then tap on the triple-dot (overflow) menu icon at the top-right.
• Scroll down in the list of options and then tap on Make Secret.

Making Spotify playlist public on PC

Open the Spotify app on your PC and follow either of the two methods below to make your playlist public.

Method 1: On the sidepanel, right-click on the playlist you want to make public from the list under Playlists. From the options that appear in the list, select Make Public.

Method 2: On the playlist page, click on the triple-dot (overflow) menu icon and select Make Public from the dropdown list to make your Spotify playlist public.

Your playlist will now be public and will appear in searches as well as be displayed on your Spotify profile page.

Making Spotify playlist private (secret) on PC
