Amreetam Basu from our sister site, topspeed.com, gives us some great information on the new, third-generation Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR from spy shots that he shares with us. The new Sport launched in May 2022 and is the best-looking SUV to have launched this year. But then we see these spy shots of the new top-spec SVR prototype wearing a very thin camouflage. The spy shots indicate a more athletic and aggressive look than the standard Range Rover Sport.

More Aggression, More Power, More Range Rover

Amreetam tells us that photos of the prototype have been very rare since March 2022, but now we quite literally have a blessing in disguise. The SVR will be very similar to the Sport in terms of the overall design. The SVR, however, will have a more aggressive front and rear bumper as well as wider air intake vents. The sides show massive, black 20-spoke wheels with Michelin tires. The rear of the vehicle is different from the Sport since the SVR has four tailpipes and assumptions are that the rear diffuser will be more prominent than the Sport.

Top Of The Line Range Rover

As is the case with most spy shots, the interior is very hard to capture, but Amreetam assumes confidently that it will offer the most high-end tech Land Rover has. This will include four-zone climate control, heated steering wheel, 13.1-inch curved infotainment screen, 13.7 inch MID, heat, and ventilation seats and a 29 speaker Meridian audio unit.

The powertrain will consist of a 4.4-liter twin-turbo BMW V8, and we can expect power to be somewhere in the BMW X5 M range of 600 hp and 553 ft-lbs of torque. There will also most likely be a sport-tuned air suspension system as well as upgraded brakes.

Expectations For The Land Rover Range Rover SVR

Amreetam tells us the new Sport is a beautiful machine, and although it is completely insane, we expect the new SVR to surpass that level of insanity. It should be bliss on wheels since performance, luxury, interior, and exterior are all top spec. We should expect this Beauty and the Beast vehicle to make its debut on the market in late 2022 or early 2023. We can't wait.

Land Rover recently unveiled the third-generation Range Rover Sport in May 2022, and truth to be told, it is the best-looking SUV to have launched in 2022. With the new Range Rover Sport out of the nest, we have the more beefed-up SVR to take things to the next level. Fortunately, our photographers captured the upcoming SVR prototype with a thin camouflage. The spy shots indicate that the design will be more athletic than that of the standard Range Rover Sport.

In March 2022, the camouflaged Range Rover Sport SVR was spotted testing on the Nürburgring, and since then, we couldn’t get close to the prototypes until now. So for starters, the SVR will be very similar to the Sport regarding the overall design. In addition, the SVR will have a more aggressive front and rear bumper design, as you can see in the spy shots. The front of the prototype seems to have wider air intake vents than the Sport. The sides expose blacked-out 20-spoke wheels that come wrapped in Michelin tires. However, the rear is slightly different from the Sport, since the SVR prototype has four rounded tailpipes. We also believe that the diffuser will be more prominent with the SVR, since it is the top trim in the Range Rover Sport line-up.

Our photographers couldn’t capture the interior of the SVR prototype, but we are confident that most of the high-end tech that Land Rover has to offer will be part. Features include four-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel, a 13.1-inch curved infotainment screen, a 13.7-inch MID, heated seats with ventilation support, and a 29-speaker Meridian audio unit. All of which will be carried over to the SVR.

SVR is known for performance, and there will be significant changes with the 2023 model year. The outgoing SVR’s 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 will be replaced with a BMW-sourced 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine, like the Range Rover Sport’s P530 First Edition trim. We expect the power figures to be close to the current BMW X5 M, which puts out 600 ponies and 553 pound-feet of torque. Like the outgoing generation, there will be a sport-tuned air suspension and upgraded brakes, among other SVR-specific upgrades.

The new-generation Range Rover Sport looks bonkers and has a more aerodynamic body compared to the boxy-looking earlier generation. So with the upcoming SVR, we expect a lot better performance SUV, with all the luxury of the standard Sport. The forthcoming Range Rover Sport SVR will be launching later in 2022 or at the beginning of 2023.
