Which command will start the listener name listener?

Stopping the listener process

Before you start the installation, check that there is no listener process that is running on the system.

About this task

You must ensure that the listener process is stopped before you begin the installation:

Procedure

  1. Run the following command on the database server [or stand-alone server if you are installing on a single computer]:ps -ef | egrep [t]ns

    If this command returns nothing, then proceed with the installation.

  2. If the previous step returns output similar to the following:oracle 29466 28166 0 10:37:55 ? 0:07 /appl/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1/bin/tnslsnr LISTENER -inherit

    Then, this process must be stopped by running the following command as the database owner:

    $ lsnrctl stop

    Where is the name of the listener that is returned by the ps command. In the above example, the listener name is LISTENER.
