Issues installing Ubuntu-Desktop on Ubuntu 20.04 [Minimal]

  • Quote
After seeing this video from Hardkernel, I was exited to try installing Ubuntu Gnome on my N2.

How do I install Ubuntu-Desktop using the official Odroid image: //wiki.odroid.com/odroid-n2/os_im ... u/20200715?

I flashed it on an uSD card. Then,

Code: Select all

sudo apt update sudo apt upgrade sudo apt install mali-bifrost-wayland-driver
I got the error:

Code: Select all

E: Unable to locate package mali-bifrost-wayland-driver
I also tried,

Code: Select all

sudo apt install ubuntu-desktop
I got the error:

Code: Select all

1. The image using in the video is not uploaded yet, since audio issue discovered after packaging with the latest kernel. So I am building and testing it to upload.
2. The official Ubuntu 20.04 image from Wiki is based on the Linux kernel 4.9, and 'mali-bifrost-wayland-driver' will only be installed on top of LInux 5.x kernel that is installed on the image explained with above.
3. I realize that my package server is down for some reason, and looks like it's a hardware problem. It would take a couple of days to fix. I will let you know when it's fixed.

Any update?

Which Ubuntu image can we use for the n2+ until new image gets uploaded?

Also, the fact that package server is down affects every Ubuntu version? Is it possible right now to flash an image and install Ubuntu desktop? [not Mate if possible]

I just got a n2+ and need to use it with a desktop environment asap.

Thanks in advance.

Unless I missed some very very recent event, the package server has been up for a few days again.

You can follow these instructions now to get a desktop environment up and running:
viewtopic.php?p=299838#p299838

You can install any desktop package you want on the ubuntu minimal image provided.
But only the Gnome based ubuntu-desktop running wayland has hardware acceleration using the mali bifrost wayland driver.

Thanks, I only checked the wiki page for the latest image.

Sorry, please refer to the link where I've informed about the minimal / server OS image with 5.7 kernel.
