Do laptops have SIM card slot?

Quite a few higher end models have the option.

most of the business line from each manufacturer have them, or have the connector for the module. why? because business is important enough that they will pay the increased cost so they can get work done from almost anywhere. WLAN

I've ordered hardware with the option, but I haven't ever actually seen it used. Portable hotspots or pairing with smartphones does it for 99% of users in my experience.

I think its because its more hassle than its worth.

If the computer ever needs lengthy repairs or it breaks you are still paying for service on something you can't use. Especially if you got into any agreement with discounting the laptop for adding the service. Plus its a mess to set something up with all the different bands and networks and regulations to make it universal. Also it reflects badly upon the manufacturer if the wireless connectivity doesnt work or goes out.

Simply put, its easier for them to use the connectivity already built into the device [WiFi] and send you to a carrier who then takes care of, specializes and provides service for an external device.

My last several Lenovo laptops have them under the battery. You might actually have one and don't know it.

Because they do not have modems that would require it. A SIM card is used for GSM/LTE modems, and in the case of MacBooks, they don't have a modem. The reason some do [like some lenovos] is because they offer a modem and its cheaper to design one laptop with SIM slot instead of redesigning the entire computer to eliminate a $0.30 part

You can buy an iPad with a sim card slot, i thought it would be only logical to offer this on a Macbook for example. 4G is amazingly fast, so why not just combine the two?

Because they aren't phones ... Boom

Why would they

Because they're kind of expensive, they take up room in the computer that could be used for other things, they drain battery like crazy if you leave them on, and not that many people want it. Most people use their laptops within wi-fi range.

A few years ago, there were plenty of laptops available with mobile broadband. There are still a few models that you can get the cards in, like the Lenovo X1 Carbon, but it's usually the more expensive business models since it turns out no one was buying it in the consumer models.
